Practicing athletics to an international level at a very young age made it possible for Eric Caulier to become aware of the need for concentration on 3 specific areas: studing specific gesture, visualization and feeling of movement, research of the state of grace.
For many years he has used in his teaching concepts of biomechanics, of physiology of perception and the action, of hypnosis in order to clarify the 3 levels of practice in taijiquan: postures and movements of the body, circulation of the breath/energy and intention/frame of mind.
Eric Caulier is interested in the pragmatic application of these aspects, for example:
- In biomechanics: base support, anatomical plans, axes of rotation, levers, forces couples, centre of body mass.
- In physiology of perception and action: the direction of the movement, the movement as progressive slip of postures, the natural movement, degrees of freedom.
- In hypnosis: the disposal, operative imagination, the access to the deep resources.
Science with its new paradigms (quantum and complex) rediscover cogency of old traditional wisdoms. The quantum physics propose a holistic, organic and ecological approach of the universe. Complexity shows us the importance of the decompartmentalization, the relevance of transdisciplinary approaches. The forms of the taijiquan are in perfect harmony with our orientalized contemporary society. Dynamic rooting, presentism (living in the moment), reliance, organicity, vitalism, syntony (synergy), empathy, participation, mystic and magic characterize, according to the sociology of Michel Maffesoli, the postmodernity.
One cannot disturb a flower without disturbing a star.
